Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dew Drops review

The other day I was scrolling through my TikTok feed and it is currently full of clips from Shark Tank and I was so surprised to see the founders of Glow Recipe on there - I had no idea!
They were rejected by all ‘Sharks’ apart from one but it turns out that deal didn’t happen in the end and you know what - they clearly didn’t need it! Glow Recipe as a brand is HUGE, from its cute packaging to the actual ability to make your skin glow from all of their wonderful products.
Watermelon, the star of the show!
I started using Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dew Drops and here are my thoughts.
Glow Recipe is quite well known for its superfruit powered products and when they released their Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dew Drops - I just had to try them.
The dew drops are a multi use highlighting serum that hydrates and reduces the look of hyperpigmentation.
If you know anything about Glow Recipe, you would know that watermelon is the star of the show in a lot of their products, so this serum is no different.
In addition, it contains niacinamide which when formulated into skincare products, it can help brighten up any dullness and reduce the look of hyperpigmentation.
Other ingredients and effects
As well as this, Glow Recipe’S Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dew Drops contains Hyaluronic acid - which we know is a goddess of an ingredient in general because it can literally hold 1000 times its weight in water - keeping that skin very hydrated.
As mentioned earlier, there is a watermelon fragrance to it, so this can be sensitive on some skin types, always do a small patch test first! Products that have a fragrance, my skin usually doesn’t like - not the case with this serum!
The smell is amazing but it doesn’t irritate my skin at all which is partially why it has secured a spot on my skincare shelf. It works as a skincare product as well as a make-up product, almost like 2 for the price of 1 - now you’re talking.
One of the great things about this serum is that it doesn’t contain any glitter (this just should not be in anything in my opinion), mica or pigment - we love to see it.
You can use the dew drops in three different ways: as a serum, as a primer or as a highlight on your cheekbones - you’ll shine so bright that you can be seen from space.
Pros
Hydrates and reduces the look of hyperpigmentation
Brightens up any dullness
Works as a make-up product too
Really does make the skin glow
Cons
Sensitive on some skin types
Doesn't have the same staying power as a highlighter
Glow Recipe Watermelon Dew Drops feel and texture
I have combination skin for the most part of the year. I sometimes get dry skin under my eyes and around my jawline but my skin is also oily on my forehead and nose - so I use all kinds of products to suit my skincare needs, this is my justification for constantly buying new products.
When you see the texture of this serum for the first time, you might assume it is quite thick, to be fair it does look it.
Once I applied it on my skin, it felt thin, not heavy at all and I could see why people would use it as a primer.
It felt tacky on the skin, like a primer would but not at all sticky, more gripping just like how a primer would behave.
A little tip on how to apply…
I have tested out this serum in all 3 ways, as a primer, a serum, as a highlight and I have even mixed it in with foundation (little tip - this gives you that dewy finish).
My personal favourite way of using this product is as a serum on its own and mixing it in with foundation.
When I use it in my foundation, one pump is more than enough and I find that it gives me that plump dewy look without really overdoing it, almost like a natural highlight.
I absolutely love using it on its own, I go days without wearing make-up sometimes and my skin really does glow and feels so soft after using it.
The fact that I can get away with just having this serum on and it looks like I’m wearing an actual make-up highlighter is amazing.
I tend to use the dew drops in the evening, again with one pump, but they can be used in the day and I layer it under my moisturizer - I end up looking like a glazed doughnut, how fabulous is that.
What about the price point?
The dew drops retail for $40/£31 and to be honest - I think it is fair and isn’t expensive.
You’re buying a skincare product that has benefits such as amino acids and Vitamin A and C, as well as being able to use it as a highlighter on your cheekbones under and/or on top of your make up.
I don’t currently own another product that does both so I think it’s worth the splurge. It looks after your skin and saves you from buying an actual highlighter.
Glow Recipe Watermelon Dew Drops summary
If you aren’t wearing make-up day to day but still want that glow then this is your product.
The only thing I would say is don’t expect it to have quite the same staying power as an actual highlighter because at the core - it is a skincare product and it will absorb a bit into the skin.
But if like me you’re a bit sad that your favourite highlighter got discontinued (RIP Becca Champagne Pop) and you’re looking for a serum that will brighten and give your skin that glow and dewy look then this is worth the try!
I just bought their Fruit Babies set to test out a few more from their range and if the dew drops are anything to go by, then I’m in for a treat.
