Colorescience Sunforgettable Total Protection Face Shield Flex SPF 50 review

You guys know how much I love an SPF, especially an SPF50. As always, whatever the season, wear SPF.
I was asked for ID to buy wine last week, I am 34 for reference, and the lady asked me what I use on my skin.
Apart from retinol, SPF is another magic product for anti-aging.
I told her I wear it all year round and she admitted that her dermatologist told her this too but she didn’t really take it on board, I told her she should and it’s never too late.
When I come across a new SPF that I want to try, it’s only right that I share it with you guys!
Pros
SPF 50
Protects from UVA/UVB rays and blue light
Suitable for all skin types
Free from parabens, synthetic fragrance and it’s non-comedogenic
A lot of useful details on the packaging
Mineral sunscreen
Cons
Slightly expensive
Sunforgettable Total Protection Face Shield Flex SPF 50
The FLEX shield SPF has iron oxide pigments that once applied and rubbed gently together, activates the tone-adapting color coverage, which has a demi-matte finish and is buildable.
It is available in 4 different shades, I purchased medium as I have an olive skin tone.
Key Ingredients and effects |
---|
Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide - creates a barrier from free radical formation and oxidative stress
Niacinamide - soothes the skin
Feel & Texture |
---|
Soft on the skin
Lightweight
Thin consistency
How to use |
---|
On the packaging it states to dispense the SPF onto your fingertips and rub gently to activate the pigments.
I found that applying directly to my face was a bit better, only because then the pigments truly adapt to the color on your face, which is different from your fingers and hands.
Or you could still apply on your fingers, then onto your face and rub to activate - whichever works best for you!
I would use a sufficient amount, two fingertips length, to ensure full coverage.
Then allow a couple of minutes for the shade to adjust completely to your skin tone.
Price and verdict
Retailing at £32.45/$49 for 55ml, is it worth it? In my opinion I believe it is totally worth it.
If you use a tinted moisturizer and then a SPF buying those two products separately probably amounts to the cost of this SPF.
Some products that cross over between skincare and makeup don’t usually offer a high enough sun protection factor, but this one does as an SPF 50.
Having an olive skin tone, I used shade medium and in my opinion I really like it.
It delivers on the buildable coverage, it’s lightweight, it feels very soft on the skin and it gives my skin a really nice glowy and dewy finish.
I haven’t used it on holiday out in the sun all day yet, as it is the middle of winter but as an SPF 50, I am confident that it delivers the protection no doubt.
Colorescience Sunforgettable SPF 50 conclusion
This is the very first mineral sunscreen that I really like and it delivers on what it claims.
As you can see from the before and after pictures it has added a lovely glow, which I am looking forward to continuing using.
Who are Colorescience?
I had heard a little about Colorescience but honestly, just a little - so it’s a new brand for me. It was founded in 2000 by Diane Ranger, who is also the founder of Bare Escentuals - that brand I have known for a while; it’s now owned by Shiseido.
Colorescience as a brand promotes the following key points that their products provide:
Beautiful healthy skin - creating the perfect connection between skincare and makeup
SPF with so much more - all-mineral and chemical free
Reef safe, skin safe - formulated with non-nano mineral active ingredients
Skincare innovation - creating innovations now with their products to prevent future skin damage
This particular SPF is a mineral and lightweight sunscreen with tinted color coverage, which upon application evens the skin tone.
The formula of this SPF is upheld by Colorescience’s very own EnviroScreen® Technology.
